From May 31 to June 2, 2021, an online meeting of students and teachers from partner schools as part of the Erasmus Chain Reaction project was held. 48 students and 11 teachers participated in the meeting. Due to the still prevailing pandemic, we could not meet at the school in Warsaw, so we decided to meet online using the Zoom platform. During the first day, students of all partner schools had a chance to get to know each other better by answering questions in English, which they were very happy to do. Teachers from individual schools also prepared quizzes on kahoot platforms and quizizz. The questions concerned interesting facts about the partner countries. On the second day, the teachers and students from schools in Poland, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria and Latvia, participating in the meeting, had to find a way out of the puzzle room. The virtual escape room on the www.genial.ly platform contained various questions about the countries of all participants. To do this, you had to guess the hidden code by communicating in English and cooperating with other participants. On the third day, students and teachers had the following topics in English to discuss in groups: Then they had to post their opinions on www.padlet.com and present them to other participants. Padlet is a program for creating a virtual „wall” on which you can post pictures, photos, texts. In a word, it helps to organize and group thematically various resources and share them on the network. One of our project’s activity was to prepare the maps of our schools’ neighborhood with marked dangerous places and the safest routs for cyclist to the schools. This is how we completed it: CROATIA: Our students do not use a bicycle to go to school because they mainly live near school. Some of them who live further encounter the following traffic signs: stop, pedestrian crossing and road with the adventage of passing. Since there is no bike path, it is very dangerous to ride a bike and it’s important to know traffic rules. BULGARIA: Parents of children from preparatory school groups organized an initiative to tour the kindergarten area. As a result, they identified dangerous points in the area- for cyclists and for pedestrians. BULGARIA-A-map-with-marked-dangers-on-the-way-to-our-Kindergarten (pdf 557 kB) LATVIA: Our school implemented this activity in such a way that every class made a survey with questions – how far I live from school; how I get to the school; how much time it takes. And each pupil drew his way to the school in the map around our school. During lesson they discussed the safest way and potential threats for cyclists and pedestrians. Conclusions: ROMANIA: Students and parents designed maps with the safest roads from home to school by bike . Our biggest problem is that we do not have routes for cycling in our neighborhood, so students must be very well equiped. They have to know the signs and the roules for cars also !! In our school we have a project about safety on roads, about trafffic regulations. Each year we have courses where we talk about the rules of the road. We organized lessons to explain wich signs are for cyclist and which for cars. We explain why is so important to wear a HELMET and to use the signs to show the change of the direction. WE will have a petition to our maire to increase the number of trails bike. POLAND: The most dangerous points were marked on the map, the places where you should watch out for passing cars. The distance is marked on the map. The route was checked together with parents. What is more, during the classes, the students together with the teacher traveled the route, along the way all the points marked with an asterisk were first discussed in terms of safety. Then, for three minutes, the behavior of individual drivers was observed and discussed. Finally, the students were divided into groups of 2 and 3, the task of each group was to safely overcome the intersection by following the rules of the road. Moja droga do szkoły. Dystans do pokonania to 2,6 km. Trasa została nie została pokonana z rodzicami.

In Primary School No. 154 in Warsaw on October 9, 2019. for the second time a MTB cycling competition was organized. 20 players took part in them. They were divided into two age categories (classes 4-6) and two categories (girls and boys). The competition route was marked out in the woods next to the school and led along marked forest paths. The route was 1200 m long. The competitors had to cover one loop from the joint start. The condition of participation in the competition was to have a functional bicycle and helmet, competitors without a helmet received them from the organizers. The awards in the form of cups were funded by the Sports and Recreation Department of the Warsaw Białołęka District. In the footsteps of John Paul II On 19.10.2019 together with a group of students we went on a bicycle trip „Following the footsteps of John Paul II”. The route was prepared in cooperation by a religion teacher (the part about places visited by John Paul II during his stay in Warsaw) and a physical education teacher (route planning, organization of a free ride). During the trip we visited the nun of the Ursuline Sisters in which Cardinal lived Karol Wojtyła before leaving for the conclave in October 1978. Another place was Piłsudski Square, where a Holy Mass was celebrated, during which the Pope gave the significant words „… let your spirit descend …”. The next stop was the Warsaw Cathedral. The Pope will begin his first pilgrimage with her. When the Pope was in Warsaw again in 1983, he prayed in the cathedral over the tomb of the primate. Four years later, on June 8, 1987, John Paul II met with Mother Teresa of Calcutta in the cathedral. Trip to Pumptrack On October 26, 2019 we went on a trip to Skierd on a pumptrack. We set off from school in the early Saturday morning at 9.00. In total, students from classes II, III, IV, VI and VII registered in total 13 people. Parents and teachers also appeared in total 8 people. The pace of the ride was adapted to people who rode slower and in this way we covered a distance of 14 km in one direction making several stops along the way. On site, students who are scouts prepared a bonfire, during which everyone baked their own sausage. After the meal, we practiced the technique of driving on the track, then we set off on the way back. During one of the stops for people showing excess energy, a short and fast competition for the longest drift was organized, in which 6 boys took part, the best prize was waiting. After covering a distance of about 30 km, we finished the trip with a shared photo in front of the school.
